What is a dividend?
A dividend is the portion of annual net income that the company pays out to its shareholders. The amount to be paid is proposed by the Board of Directors and approved by the shareholders’ meeting. The dividend must be paid within 9 months of the close of the fiscal year. In the case of Veolia Environnement, it is paid at the end of May, immediately after its approval by the shareholders.

To be entitled to a dividend, you must own a share at the so-called “coupon removal” date.

You don’t need to do anything in order to receive your dividend: if you own bearer or administered registered shares, your financial intermediary will pay this automatically into your bank account. If you own pure registered shares, you will receive your dividend by check or credit transfer from Société Générale.

2007 dividend

A net dividend of 1,21 euros per share on each of the 470.7 million company shares eligible at January 1, 2008, was submitted to the shareholders for approval at the Combined General Meeting of May 7, 2008. This represents a 15,2% increase over the dividend of 1,05 euro per share paid in respect of fiscal 2006.
